Education media

The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) is a language and education think tank in Washington, DC. When I was at CAL, part of my job was to disseminate research findings about bilingual education, to take academic research findings and translate them into something accessible and useful for educators and policy makers.

(These were for print publications. Few of these nonprofit organizations had much of a web presence in the 90s.)

Bilingual education: Policy worth pursuing appeared in the October 1998 issue of The High School Magazine, the main publication of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Effective instructional strategies for bilingual students was published in the June 1999 issue of NABE News, the main publication of the National Association for Bilingual Educators.

Fostering bilingualism in young learners: New resources for bilingual and ESL educators appeared in the June/July 1996 issue of TESOL Matters. (TESOL is a large membership organization of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.)
